The story of La Jefa centers on Gloria Guzmán (played by Fabiola Guajardo), a woman who seems to have the perfect life: a successful career, a family that adores her, and she is about to marry Juan José Cruz (Cristián de la Fuente), a commander in the State Attorney General’s Office and the father of her child. However, on her wedding day, her world falls apart when a group of hitmen murder her fiancé, revealing a dark truth: Juan José had betrayed his partners in the Tijuana Cartel, stealing millions of dollars.
In an instant, Gloria loses everything. Her family turns their backs on her, the government confiscates her assets, and she is hunted by her late husband’s enemies, including the fearsome cartel leader, Duque Medina (José María Galeano). Alone, penniless, and with her son Daniel seriously ill with diabetes, Gloria is forced to make a radical decision.
